| When viewed from Jomemu, Popodo-he can reach an apparent magnitude of -3, bright enough for its reflected light to cast shadows, and making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky. This large hot gas giant is named after the deity Popodo-he, the messenger of love and beauty.
It may have had methane oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect.
The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 10 meters.
In 2880, images from Frontier 3 showed Popodo-he as an almost featureless planet in visible light, without the cloud bands or storms associated with the other large hot gas giants. Observations from Earth have shown seasonal change and increased weather activity as Popodo-he approached its equinox 3 years ago. |
