Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Latigof |
Planet type | Warm gas giant |
Latigof is the smallest and most crater filled planet in its solar system. In English, Latigof is often referred to as the "brown planet" because the krypton prevalent on its surface gives it a deep brown appearance that is recognizable among the astronomical bodies visible to the naked eye.
The planet is named after the deity Latigof, the bringer of good fortune.
At this time it may appear as a bright star-like object, but is often far more difficult to observe than Ebus.
As seen from WASP-117, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
It has the densest atmosphere of the two warm gas giants, consisting partly of molecular hydrogen.
Plans have been proposed for rovers or more complex missions, but they are hindered by Latigof's strong magnetosphere. |
