Suggested name | Joshikya |
Planet type | Huge cold gas giant |
It is the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after Dochi-hya, reaching an apparent magnitude of -5 - bright enough to cast shadows at night and, often, visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.
For this reason, scientists often classify Joshikya and Dochi-hya as "huge cold gas giants" to distinguish them from the other planets. This planet is named after the deity Joshikya, the bringer of nature.
Future astrobiology missions are planned, including the Joshikya 2500 and ExoJoshikya rovers.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 480 kilometers across when Joshikya is closest because of Earth's atmosphere.
The Joshikya system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. |
