Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Mirdes |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in its solar system, with a minimum temperature of 73°K (-200°C), and has a complex, layered cloud structure with neon thought to make up the lowest clouds, and krypton the uppermost layer of clouds. The planet is named after the deity Mirdes, the demon of hate.
The atmospheric pressure at the planet's surface is 70 bar, or roughly the pressure found 765 m under the oceans of Earth.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 180 kilometers across when Mirdes is closest because of Earth's atmosphere.
The latest probe to visit the planet is Pointer, which entered into orbit around Mirdes after a very expensive trip.
Its north and south poles, therefore, lie where most other planets have their equators. |
