Chobi-bya has been known to astronomers since the beginning of the space age. The planet is named after the deity Chobi-bya, the demon of the sky.
Like Shapyuchu, Chobi-bya has been orbiting TOI-203 for @STARAGE billion years, and never exceeds 22 degrees away from TOI-203.
An observer on Chobi-bya would therefore see only one summer every four years.
As one of the most prominent objects in the sky, Chobi-bya has been a major factor in native folklore for as long as records have existed.
Plans have been proposed for rovers or more complex missions, but they are hindered by Chobi-bya's hazardous precipitation.
The two polar ice caps appear to be made largely of frozen gas.
Because of its rapid rotation, the planet's shape is that of an oblate spheroid (it has a slight but noticeable bulge around the equator). |
