Suggested nameTonoeae
Planet typeHot planet
This planet is named after the deity Tonoeae, the messenger of prosperity.

Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Tonoeae's distance from TOI-178 is only about two-thirds (or 106 pct) of its distance at aphelion. Tonoeae's surface appears slightly bruised and is similar in appearance to the Moon's, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years.

Tonoeae is the site of Titanic Montanus, the biggest volcano and second-highest known mountain in its solar system, and of Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in its solar system.

In November 1700, NASA reported finding a large amount of underground ice in the Utopia Planitia region of Tonoeae.

Tonoeae can easily be seen from Thrymr Sece with the naked eye, as can its greenish coloring.
