Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Ying |
Planet type | Small hot gas planet |
It is named after the deity Ying, the spirit of the sky.
Two spacecraft have visited Ying: Wayfinder 6 flew by 51 years ago; and Messenger, launched 13 years ago, orbited Ying over 70 times in four years before exhausting its reactor and crashing into the planet's surface 6 years later.
The Ying system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. |
