Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Syconomia Hali |
Planet type | Hot planet |
This planet is named after the deity Syconomia Hali, the creator of fear.
When viewed from Dime Ijice-lene, this proximity to TOI-1296 means the planet can only be seen near the western or eastern horizon during the early evening or early morning. At this time it may appear as a bright star-like object, but is often far more difficult to observe than Dime Ijice-lene.
As seen relative to the fixed stars, it rotates on its axis exactly four times for every five revolutions it makes around TOI-1296.
Two spacecraft have visited Syconomia Hali: Wayfinder 3 flew by 17 years ago; and Messenger, launched 26 years ago, orbited Syconomia Hali over 105 times in four years before exhausting its reactor and crashing into the planet's surface 8 years later.
It may have had xenon oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect.
Syconomia Hali was one of the first planets to have its motions plotted across the sky - as early as the second millennium BC. |
