Suggested name | Qyub |
Planet type | Small hot gas planet |
When viewed from Zyuefei'zyin, Qyub can reach an apparent magnitude of -3, bright enough for its reflected light to cast shadows, and making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky. The interior of Qyub is mainly composed of ices and stone. It is named after the deity Qyub, the messenger of fear.
The planet telescopically displays the complete range of phases, similar to Venus and the Moon, as it moves in its inner orbit relative to TOI-1246, which reoccurs over the so-called synodic period approximately every 168 days.
The polar regions are constantly below 180°K (-93°C).
The rotational period and seasonal cycles of Qyub are likewise similar to those of Zyuefei'zyin, as is the tilt that produces the seasons.
Future astrobiology missions are planned, including the Qyub 2800 and ExoQyub rovers.
Because of its rapid rotation, the planet's shape is that of an oblate spheroid (it has a slight but noticeable bulge around the equator).
Qyub has been explored on several occasions by robotic spacecraft, most notably during the early Pioneer and Wayfinder flyby missions and later by the Galileo orbiter. |
