Yuhaeshi'yaji is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere, having surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the valleys, deserts, and polar ice caps of Earth. Yuhaeshi'yaji is orbiting OGLE-2016-BLG-1227 every @ORBITALPERIOD Earth days. It is the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after Rime, reaching an apparent magnitude of -5 - bright enough to cast shadows at night and, rarely, visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.
This planet is named after the deity Yuhaeshi'yaji, the messenger of destruction.
Yuhaeshi'yaji is gravitationally locked with OGLE-2016-BLG-1227 in a 5:4 spin-orbit resonance, and rotates in a way that is unique in its solar system.
Two spacecraft have visited Yuhaeshi'yaji: Wayfinder 11 flew by 45 years ago; and Messenger, launched 11 years ago, orbited Yuhaeshi'yaji over 65 times in four years before exhausting its plasma drive and crashing into the planet's surface 9 years later.
It is radically different from Earth in other respects.
Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Yuhaeshi'yaji due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 4 percent of Rime's, except at the lowest elevations for short periods.
The largest moon, Pyazoofu Gimuhya, has a diameter greater than that of the planet Jupiter. |
