Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Ixukup Idelu |
Planet type | Cold gas giant |
This cold gas giant is named after the deity Ixukup Idelu, the goddess of hate.
Having almost no atmosphere to retain heat, it has surface temperatures that vary diurnally more than on any other planet in its solar system, ranging from 175°K (-98°C) at night to 735°K (462°C) during the day across the equatorial regions.
The two polar ice caps appear to be made largely of frozen gas. In November 1800, NASA reported finding a large amount of underground ice in the Utopia Planitia region of Ixukup Idelu.
The outer atmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms along their interacting boundaries.
Ixukup Idelu has been explored on several occasions by robotic spacecraft, most notably during the early Pioneer and Daedalus flyby missions and later by the Hotchins orbiter. |
