Suggested name | Byxa-nuhus |
Planet type | Small cold gas planet |
For this reason, scientists often classify Byxa-nuhus and Uwel as "small cold gas planets" to distinguish them from the other planets. It is named after the deity Byxa-nuhus, the bringer of chaos.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Byxa-nuhus's distance from OGLE-2012-BLG-0950L is only about two-thirds (or 66 pct) of its distance at aphelion. Byxa-nuhus's surface appears extremely bruised and is similar in appearance to the Moon's, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years.
Two spacecraft have visited Byxa-nuhus: Wayfinder 8 flew by 45 years ago; and Messenger, launched 9 years ago, orbited Byxa-nuhus over 105 times in four years before exhausting its fuel and crashing into the planet's surface 5 years later.
It is radically different from Earth in other respects.
Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Byxa-nuhus due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 5 percent of Earth's, except at the lowest elevations for limited periods.
Byxa-nuhus is primarily composed of molecular hydrogen with a significant part of its mass being neon, though neon comprises only about a limited amount of the number of molecules. |
