Suggested name | Inopa-payu |
Planet type | Planet |
It has the longest rotation period (445 days) of any planet in its solar system and rotates in the opposite direction to most other planets.
The planet is named after the deity Inopa-payu, the spirit of dreams.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Inopa-payu's distance from LTT 1445A is only about two-thirds (or 99 pct) of its distance at aphelion.
Two spacecraft have visited Inopa-payu: Daedalus 6 flew by 21 years ago; and Messenger, launched 17 years ago, orbited Inopa-payu over 60 times in four years before exhausting its plasma drive and crashing into the planet's surface 5 years later.
Inopa-payu is a planet and is sometimes called Earth's "brother planet" because of their similar size, mass, proximity to LTT 1445A, and bulk composition. It is radically different from Pibu Ra in other respects. The atmospheric pressure at the planet's surface is 40 bar, or roughly the pressure found 1125 m under the oceans of Earth. |
