Suggested nameJoke
Planet typeCold planet
Joke is the smallest and most crater filled planet in its solar system. Joke is the fourth planet from Kepler-967 and the second-smallest planet in its solar system. It is the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after Tsuga Pa, reaching an apparent magnitude of -5 - bright enough to cast shadows at night and, sometimes, visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.

For this reason, scientists often classify Joke and Tsuga Pa as "cold planets" to distinguish them from the other planets. The planet is named after the deity Joke, the demon of love and beauty.

When viewed from Earth, this proximity to Kepler-967 means the planet can only be seen near the western or eastern horizon during the early evening or early morning.

An observer on Joke would therefore see only one sunrise every four years.

Joke's dense atmosphere render observation of its surface challenging in visible light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 56 years ago.

A prominent result is the "great black spot", a giant storm that is known to have existed for centuries since it was first detected by scanner.

The Joke system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit.
