Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Herca |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Herca is the only habitable planet orbiting Kepler-812 and one of the largest in its solar system. The interior of Herca is mainly composed of ices and stone. It is named after the deity Herca, the goddess of chaos.
As seen relative to the fixed stars, it rotates on its axis exactly two times for every two revolutions it makes around Kepler-812.
Two spacecraft have visited Herca: Wayfinder 5 flew by 21 years ago; and Messenger, launched 24 years ago, orbited Herca over 75 times in four years before exhausting its pwoer source and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 5 years later.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 150 kilometers across when Herca is closest because of Earth's atmosphere. |
