Suggested name | Lyakyue-p |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Lyakyue-p is a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere, having surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the valleys, deserts, and polar ice caps of Earth. Lyakyue-p is orbiting Kepler-811 every 24 Earth days.
It is named after the deity Lyakyue-p, the messenger of the sky.
The planet telescopically displays the complete range of phases, similar to Venus and the Moon, as it moves in its inner orbit relative to Kepler-811, which reoccurs over the so-called synodic period approximately every 203 days.
The volume of water detected has been estimated to be equivalent to the volume of water in Earth's oceans.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other cold planets, Lyakyue-p lacks a well-defined solid surface.
The Lyakyue-p system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. |
