| Lathytania's atmosphere is similar to Narkehi-thobian's in its primary composition of methane and water, but it contains more "ices" such as water, ammonia, and methane, along with traces of other hydrocarbons. This cold planet is named after the deity Lathytania, the messenger of the underworld.
Two spacecraft have visited Lathytania: Frontier 3 flew by 39 years ago; and Messenger, launched 10 years ago, orbited Lathytania over 105 times in four years before exhausting its fuel and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 9 years later.
Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Lathytania due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 3 percent of Earth's, except at the lowest elevations for limited periods.
Wind speeds can reach 95 metres per second.
The cruel surface is known for its passive minded and primitive herbivores that survive in the air while hunting the Desidene Cal. They are somewhat related to the Hivite'lyplas but have 9 tentacles and vary in length from 20 to 43 cm. Most Drareper-ka can survive temperatures from -90 to -40°C and even a limited degree of radiation which is common on Lathytania. |
