Suggested name | Hyun-ro |
Planet type | Small cold gas planet |
Orbiting within Jahoro's orbit, Hyun-ro is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from Kepler-57; its maximum angular distance from Kepler-57 (elongation) is 60 degrees.
This planet is named after the deity Hyun-ro, the creator of the underworld.
Having almost no atmosphere to retain heat, it has surface temperatures that vary diurnally more than on any other planet in its solar system, ranging from 85°K (-188°C) at night to 1120°K (847°C) during the day across the equatorial regions.
It was the one of the first exoplanets visited by a spacecraft, and one of the first to be successfully landed on.
In late February 2800, Hyun-ro was visited by the New Horizons probe, which used Hyun-ro's gravity to increase its speed and bend its trajectory en route to Jahoro.
Wind speeds can reach 90 metres per second. |
