Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Tancar Mirpe |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It is named after the deity Tancar Mirpe, the spirit of war.
Two spacecraft have visited Tancar Mirpe: Wayfinder 11 flew by 33 years ago; and Messenger, launched 15 years ago, orbited Tancar Mirpe over 135 times in four years before exhausting its plasma drive and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 5 years later.
The ammonia has probably photodissociated, and the free ethane has been swept into interplanetary space by the solar wind because of the lack of a planetary magnetic field.
As the closest planet to Kalnix Apus, Tancar Mirpe has been a prime target for early extra solar exploration.
The rotational period and seasonal cycles of Tancar Mirpe are likewise similar to those of Kalnix Apus, as is the tilt that produces the seasons.
Surrounding Tancar Mirpe is a irregular planetary ring system and a powerful magnetosphere. |
