Suggested name | Nyarire Bya |
Planet type | Hot planet |
Nyarire Bya is the fourth planet from Kepler-265 and the second-smallest planet in its solar system. Orbiting within Enafu Zaza-ta's orbit, Nyarire Bya is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from Kepler-265; its maximum angular distance from Kepler-265 (elongation) is 50 degrees.
Nyarire Bya and Enafu Zaza-ta are hot planets rich in rock. When viewed from Enafu Zaza-ta, Nyarire Bya can reach an apparent magnitude of -3, bright enough for its reflected light to cast shadows, and making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky. This planet is named after the deity Nyarire Bya, the creator of fear.
As seen from Kepler-265, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
Nyarire Bya's surface appears heavily scarred and is similar in appearance to the Moon's, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years.
There are ongoing investigations assessing the future terraforming potential of Nyarire Bya, as well as the possibility of extant life.
Because of its rapid rotation, the planet's shape is that of an oblate spheroid (it has a slight but noticeable bulge around the equator). |
