Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Betsunya Nya |
Planet type | Small hot gas planet |
It has the longest rotation period (445 days) of any planet in its solar system and rotates in the opposite direction to most other planets.
The planet is named after the deity Betsunya Nya, the god of fear.
Betsunya Nya's surface is a barren desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.
The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 13 meters.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 375 kilometers across when Betsunya Nya is closest because of Earth's atmosphere.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other small hot gas planets, Betsunya Nya lacks a well-defined atmosphere.
Observations from Earth have shown seasonal change and increased weather activity as Betsunya Nya approached its equinox 3 years ago. |
