Suggested name | Wain-ao |
Planet type | Hot planet |
This planet is named after the deity Wain-ao, the creator of the sea.
As seen from Kepler-248, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
It may have had water vapor oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect.
Plans have been proposed for rovers or more complex missions, but they are hindered by Wain-ao's hazardous precipitation.
Wain-ao is primarily composed of formaldehyde with a significant part of its mass being 2H2O, though 2H2O comprises only about a limited amount of the number of molecules.
In 1092, images from Wayfinder 5 showed Wain-ao as an almost featureless planet in visible light, without the cloud bands or storms associated with the other hot planets. |
