Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Carnix |
Planet type | Hot planet |
Orbiting within Tusfer Prostania's orbit, Carnix is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from Kepler-246; its maximum angular distance from Kepler-246 (elongation) is 46 degrees.
This hot planet is named after the deity Carnix, the bringer of love and beauty.
The planet telescopically displays the complete range of phases, similar to Venus and the Moon, as it moves in its inner orbit relative to Kepler-246, which reoccurs over the so-called synodic period approximately every 87 days.
Carnix's axis has the smallest tilt of any of its solar system's planets.
Carnix's hazy atmosphere render observation of its surface difficult in visible light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 44 years ago.
The Carnix system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. |
