Suggested name | Lirrhar-her |
Planet type | Cold gas giant |
In English, Lirrhar-her is often referred to as the "gray planet" because the hydrogen prevalent on its surface gives it a strange gray appearance that is unusual among the astronomical bodies visible to the naked eye.
This cold gas giant is named after the deity Lirrhar-her, the messenger of dreams.
At this time it may appear as a bright star-like object, but is often far more difficult to observe than Loge Rhea.
As seen relative to the fixed stars, it rotates on its axis exactly five times for every two revolutions it makes around Kepler-1656.
It is radically different from Earth in other respects. It has the densest atmosphere of the two cold gas giants, consisting of huge amounts of molecular hydrogen.
Future astrobiology missions are planned, including the Lirrhar-her 2500 and ExoLirrhar-her rovers. Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Lirrhar-her due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 4 percent of Earth's, except at the lowest elevations for short periods.
In late February 1600, Lirrhar-her was visited by the New Horizons probe, which used Lirrhar-her's gravity to increase its speed and bend its trajectory en route to Loge Rhea. |
