Suggested name | Ailwu Jyin |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in its solar system, with a minimum temperature of 88°K (-185°C), and has a complex, layered cloud structure with ozone thought to make up the lowest clouds, and argon the uppermost layer of clouds. This planet is named after the deity Ailwu Jyin, the goddess of good fortune.
Ailwu Jyin is gravitationally locked with Kepler-1636 in a 3:2 spin-orbit resonance, and rotates in a way that is unique in its solar system.
Two spacecraft have visited Ailwu Jyin: Wayfinder 4 flew by 18 years ago; and Messenger, launched 11 years ago, orbited Ailwu Jyin over 175 times in four years before exhausting its reactor and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 5 years later.
As the closest planet to Xyasyo Fyanw, Ailwu Jyin has been a prime target for early interplanetary exploration.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other cold planets, Ailwu Jyin lacks a well-defined solid surface. |
