Suggested name | Pernar |
Planet type | Terrestrial |
Pernar is the only habitable planet orbiting Kepler-151 and one of the smallest in its solar system. It is named after the deity Pernar, the spirit of fear.
Pernar is gravitationally locked with Kepler-151 in a 5:4 spin-orbit resonance, and rotates in a way that is unique in its solar system.
Pernar's dense clouds make observation of its surface difficult in infrared light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 36 years ago.
Two of Pernar's moons, Larisbian and Kotiko Kin, are are slightly irregularly shaped.
In 1887, images from Daedalus 7 showed Pernar as an almost featureless planet in visible light, without the cloud bands or storms associated with the other terrestrials. |
