Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Eikyesh'aog |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Eikyesh'aog's atmosphere is similar to Weishyuz's in its primary composition of carbonyl sulfide and methane, but it contains more "ices" such as water, ammonia, and methane, along with traces of other hydrocarbons. The planet is named after the deity Eikyesh'aog, the demon of good fortune.
The planet telescopically displays the complete range of phases, similar to Venus and the Moon, as it moves in its inner orbit relative to Kepler-1399, which reoccurs over the so-called synodic period approximately every 180 days.
Two spacecraft have visited Eikyesh'aog: Frontier 9 flew by 48 years ago; and Messenger, launched 23 years ago, orbited Eikyesh'aog over 50 times in four years before exhausting its reactor and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 5 years later.
It is radically different from Weishyuz in other respects.
Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Eikyesh'aog due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 3 percent of Earth's, except at the highest elevations for short periods. |
