Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Peno |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It has the longest rotation period (445 days) of any planet in its solar system and rotates in the opposite direction to most other planets. It is the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after Wapato Yo, reaching an apparent magnitude of -5 - bright enough to cast shadows at night and, rarely, visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.
When viewed from Wapato Yo, Peno can reach an apparent magnitude of -3, bright enough for its reflected light to cast shadows, and making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky. This planet is named after the deity Peno, the spirit of prosperity.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Peno's distance from Kepler-1382 is only about two-thirds (or 79 pct) of its distance at aphelion.
Two spacecraft have visited Peno: Wayfinder 6 flew by 48 years ago; and Messenger, launched 14 years ago, orbited Peno over 60 times in four years before exhausting its fuel and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 7 years later. |
