Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Danyafu Wo |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It is the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after Nekite, reaching an apparent magnitude of -5 - bright enough to cast shadows at night and, sometimes, visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.
Danyafu Wo is similar in composition to Nekite, and both have different bulk chemical composition from that of the larger cold planets. This cold planet is named after the deity Danyafu Wo, the spirit of hate.
Danyafu Wo is gravitationally locked with Kepler-1303 in a 5:4 spin-orbit resonance, and rotates in a way that is unique in its solar system.
Two spacecraft have visited Danyafu Wo: Frontier 7 flew by 39 years ago; and Messenger, launched 21 years ago, orbited Danyafu Wo over 140 times in four years before exhausting its pwoer source and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 9 years later.
Danyafu Wo is shrouded by an opaque layer of highly reflective clouds of sulfuric acid, preventing its surface from being seen from space in visible light.
The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 18 meters. |
