Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Fariroka |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Fariroka is the largest and most well-known planet in its solar system.
This cold planet is named after the deity Fariroka, the messenger of prosperity.
At this time it may appear as a bright star-like object, but is often far more difficult to observe than Sutkin-toone.
As seen from Kepler-1162, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
Having almost no atmosphere to retain heat, it has surface temperatures that vary diurnally more than on any other planet in its solar system, ranging from 65°K (-208°C) at night to 700°K (427°C) during the day across the equatorial regions. The polar regions are constantly below 144°K (-129°C).
It may have had oxygen oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect. The oxygen has probably photodissociated, and the free ammonia has been swept into interplanetary space by the solar wind because of the lack of a molecular hydrogen layer. |
Atmosphere | Ammonia | 70% |
Hydrogen deuteride (HD) | 29% |
Oxygen | 0.24% |
Molecular hydrogen | 0.0034% |
