Suggested name | Rojotnaq |
Planet type | Cold planet |
This planet is named after the deity Rojotnaq, the demon of nature.
Rojotnaq is gravitationally locked with Kepler-1153 in a 2:1 spin-orbit resonance, and rotates in a way that is unique in its solar system. An observer on Rojotnaq would therefore see only one winter every five years.
As one of the most noticeable objects in the sky, Rojotnaq has been a major influence in native folklore for as long as records have existed.
Future astrobiology missions are planned, including the Rojotnaq 2500 and ExoRojotnaq rovers. Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Rojotnaq due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 8 percent of Earth's, except at the lowest elevations for limited periods. The two polar ice caps appear to be made largely of rock.
Observations from Earth have shown seasonal change and increased weather activity as Rojotnaq approached its equinox 4 years ago. |
