Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Surteus |
Planet type | Cold planet |
It is named after the deity Surteus, the goddess of dreams.
An observer on Surteus would therefore see only one day every three years.
As one of the most prominent objects in the sky, Surteus has been a major inspiration in native folklore for as long as records have existed.
Surteus's hazy clouds make observation of its surface difficult in infrared light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 34 years ago.
There are ongoing investigations assessing the past habitability potential of Surteus, as well as the possibility of extant life. The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 6 meters.
Surface mostly populated by passive minded interesting plants, the "Medoracal Eu", which feed in the forest by killing the Leneme Forn plant during the day. They are related to the Mnecyl Deste but have scales and vary in size from 60 to 120 meters. The Medoracal Eu can endure temperatures from 60 to 130°C but are killed by near-vacuum which is common on Surteus. |
