The planet is named after the deity Otejeg Icotu, the god of nature.
Otejeg Icotu is gravitationally locked with Kepler-1116 in a 5:4 spin-orbit resonance, and rotates in a way that is unique in its solar system.
Otejeg Icotu is by far the hottest planet in its solar system, with a mean surface temperature of 587°K (314°C).
The smooth Borealis basin in the northern hemisphere covers 12 percent of the planet and may be a giant impact feature.
The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 14 meters. |
