Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Doufao Sh |
Planet type | Cold planet |
This planet is named after the deity Doufao Sh, the goddess of nature.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Doufao Sh's distance from Kepler-1102 is only about two-thirds (or 36 pct) of its distance at aphelion.
The water has probably photodissociated, and the free carbon dioxide has been swept into interplanetary space by the solar wind because of the lack of a methane layer. Doufao Sh's surface is a dry desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.
As one of the most prominent objects in the sky, Doufao Sh has been a major factor in native folklore for as long as records have existed.
Doufao Sh's thick atmosphere render observation of its surface difficult in visible light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 58 years ago.
The volume of water detected has been estimated to be equivalent to the volume of water in the Black Sea.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 255 kilometers across when Doufao Sh is closest because of Earth's atmosphere.
Doufao Sh is primarily composed of carbon dioxide with a significant part of its mass being oxygen, though oxygen comprises only about a limited fraction of the number of molecules. Surrounding Doufao Sh is a faint planetary ring system and a powerful magnetosphere. |
