Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Nerede Calthe |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Nerede Calthe is the fourth planet from Kepler-1070 and the second-smallest planet in its solar system.
The planet is named after the deity Nerede Calthe, the demon of hate.
As one of the most prominent objects in the sky, Nerede Calthe has been a major inspiration in native folklore for as long as records have existed.
It was the one of the first exoplanets visited by a spacecraft, and one of the first to be successfully landed on. Nerede Calthe's hazy atmosphere make observation of its surface impossible in visible light, and the first detailed maps did not emerge until the arrival of the Magellan orbiter 26 years ago.
The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 17 meters.
Nerede Calthe can easily be seen from Ronlaris with the naked eye, as can its redish coloring. |
