Suggested name | Owym |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Orbiting within Menibani's orbit, Owym is an inferior planet and never appears to venture far from Kepler-1023; its maximum angular distance from Kepler-1023 (elongation) is 62 degrees.
Owym's atmosphere is similar to Menibani's in its primary composition of oxygen and hydrogen chloride, but it contains more "ices" such as water, ammonia, and methane, along with traces of other hydrocarbons. It is named after the deity Owym, the bringer of the sky.
When viewed from Menibani, this proximity to Kepler-1023 means the planet can only be seen near the western or eastern horizon during the early evening or early morning.
It may have had krypton oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect.
Owym is primarily composed of oxygen with a significant part of its mass being hydrogen chloride, though hydrogen chloride comprises only about a limited amount of the number of molecules. It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other cold planets, Owym lacks a well-defined solid surface. A prominent result is the "great blue spot", a giant storm that is known to have existed for centuries since it was first detected by scanner. |
