Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Topal |
Planet type | Hot planet |
The planet is named after the deity Topal, the creator of chaos.
Having almost no atmosphere to retain heat, it has surface temperatures that vary diurnally more than on any other planet in its solar system, ranging from 100°K (-173°C) at night to 1155°K (882°C) during the day across the equatorial regions.
It is radically different from Earth in other respects. It may have had methane oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect.
Observations from Earth have shown seasonal change and increased weather activity as Topal approached its equinox 4 years ago.
This brutal planet is known for its unpredictable primordial insects called the "Isocali". They feed by devouring plants. They are believed to be similar to the Lirivi Thee but with 5 legs and vary in length from 70 to 90 mm. Most Isocali are known to live at temperatures from 150 to 210°C and even very low gravity which is rare on this planet. |
