Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Noto |
Planet type | Cold gas giant |
It is the second-brightest natural object in the night sky after Banebo Nyu, reaching an apparent magnitude of -5 - bright enough to cast shadows at night and, often, visible to the naked eye in broad daylight.
It is named after the deity Noto, the creator of dreams.
Like Banebo Nyu, Noto has been orbiting KMT-2021-BLG-1077L for @STARAGE billion years, and never moves more than 12 degrees away from KMT-2021-BLG-1077L.
Noto's surface appears partially cratered and is similar in appearance to the Moon's, indicating that it has been geologically inactive for billions of years.
Noto is shrouded by an opaque layer of highly reflective clouds of sulfuric acid, preventing its surface from being seen from space in visible light.
Plans have been proposed for rovers or more complex missions, but they are hindered by Noto's hazardous precipitation.
In 1986, images from Daedalus 3 showed Noto as an almost featureless planet in visible light, without the cloud bands or storms associated with the other cold gas giants. |
