Ymir Thel-anda's atmosphere is similar to Mabelcal Rome's in its primary composition of ozone and methane, but it contains more "ices" such as water, ammonia, and methane, along with traces of other hydrocarbons. It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in its solar system, with a minimum temperature of 28°K (-245°C), and has a complex, layered cloud structure with methane thought to make up the lowest clouds, and ozone the uppermost layer of clouds. The planet is named after the deity Ymir Thel-anda, the bringer of the underworld.
Ymir Thel-anda is by far the hottest planet in its solar system, with a mean surface temperature of 653°K (380°C). Ymir Thel-anda's surface is a barren desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.
The outer atmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms along their interacting boundaries.
The latest probe to visit the planet is Pointer, which entered into orbit around Ymir Thel-anda after a somewhat problematic trip. |
