Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Onodoli |
Planet type | Small cold gas planet |
It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in its solar system, with a minimum temperature of 73°K (-200°C), and has a complex, layered cloud structure with krypton thought to make up the lowest clouds, and carbon monoxide the uppermost layer of clouds. It is named after the deity Onodoli, the bringer of fear.
An observer on Onodoli would therefore see only one sunrise every three years.
The carbonyl sulfide has probably photodissociated, and the free carbon monoxide has been swept into interplanetary space by the solar wind because of the lack of a planetary magnetic field. Onodoli's surface is a barren desertscape interspersed with slab-like rocks and is periodically resurfaced by volcanism.
The Onodoli system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. |
