It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in its solar system, with a minimum temperature of 45°K (-228°C), and has a complex, layered cloud structure with xenon thought to make up the lowest clouds, and ethane the uppermost layer of clouds. The planet is named after the deity Wangt Ying, the creator of the sky.

As seen from K2-90, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.

Wangt Ying is by far the hottest planet in its solar system, with a mean surface temperature of 457°K (184°C).

Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Wangt Ying due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 4 percent of Yanw Wa's, except at the lowest elevations for short periods.

The Wangt Ying system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit.
