Suggested name | Nenal-atyr |
Planet type | Hot planet |
When viewed from Neza, Nenal-atyr can reach an apparent magnitude of -3, bright enough for its reflected light to cast shadows, and making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky. This hot planet is named after the deity Nenal-atyr, the spirit of the sky.
The atmospheric pressure at the planet's surface is 0.08 bar, or roughly the pressure found 945 m under the oceans of Earth.
It was the one of the first exoplanets visited by a spacecraft, and one of the first to be successfully landed on.
The smooth Borealis basin in the northern hemisphere covers 11 percent of the planet and may be a giant impact feature.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other hot planets, Nenal-atyr lacks a well-defined solid surface. |
