Suggested name | Greippho Lyp |
Planet type | Terrestrial |
For this reason, scientists often classify Greippho Lyp and Viban as "terrestrials" to distinguish them from the other planets. It is named after the deity Greippho Lyp, the spirit of destruction.
Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Greippho Lyp due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 8 percent of Viban's, except at the highest elevations for short periods. The volume of water ice in the south polar ice cap, if melted, would be sufficient to cover the entire planetary surface to a depth of 16 meters.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 270 kilometers across when Greippho Lyp is closest because of Earth's atmosphere.
The outer atmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms along their interacting boundaries. Surrounding Greippho Lyp is a thin planetary ring system and a powerful magnetosphere. |
