Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Sipeliaq |
Planet type | Hot planet |
This planet is named after the deity Sipeliaq, the messenger of the sky.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Sipeliaq's distance from K2-121 is only about two-thirds (or 99 pct) of its distance at aphelion.
The smooth Borealis basin in the northern hemisphere covers 27 percent of the planet and may be a giant impact feature.
It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other hot planets, Sipeliaq lacks a well-defined magnetic field. |
