| It is the coldest planetary atmosphere in its solar system, with a minimum temperature of 75°K (-198°C), and has a complex, layered cloud structure with neon thought to make up the lowest clouds, and nitric oxide the uppermost layer of clouds. When viewed from Earth, this proximity to HIP 61637 means the planet can only be seen near the western or eastern horizon during the early evening or early morning.
It may have had ammonium hydrosulfide (NH4SH) oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect.
A prominent result is the "great yellow spot", a giant storm that is known to have existed for centuries since it was first detected by scanner. The largest moon, Umgreip, has a diameter greater than that of the planet Mercury. |
