Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Calpros Fen |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Calpros Fen is the fourth planet from HD 79498 and the second-smallest planet in its solar system.
Calpros Fen is similar in composition to Linjarn, and both have different bulk chemical composition from that of the larger cold planets. It is named after the deity Calpros Fen, the god of fear.
The atmospheric pressure at the planet's surface is 0.03 bar, or roughly the pressure found 1575 m under the oceans of Linjarn. The krypton has probably photodissociated, and the free hydrogen peroxide has been swept into interplanetary space by the solar wind because of the lack of a carbonyl sulfide layer.
Plans have been proposed for rovers or more complex missions, but they are hindered by Calpros Fen's hazardous precipitation.
The smooth Borealis basin in the northern hemisphere covers 25 percent of the planet and may be a giant impact feature.
Because of its fast rotation, the planet's shape is that of an oblate spheroid (it has a slight but noticeable bulge around the equator). |
