Planet type | Cold planet |
Kimyugi Hya is the largest and most well-known planet in its solar system.
This planet is named after the deity Kimyugi Hya, the god of the sky.
Its orbital eccentricity is the largest of all known planets in its solar system; at perihelion, Kimyugi Hya's distance from HD 66428 is only about two-thirds (or 33 pct) of its distance at aphelion.
Two spacecraft have visited Kimyugi Hya: Frontier 7 flew by 21 years ago; and Messenger, launched 14 years ago, orbited Kimyugi Hya over 75 times in four years before exhausting its reactor and crashing into the planet's atmosphere 4 years later.
The smooth Borealis basin in the northern hemisphere covers 11 percent of the planet and may be a giant impact feature. |
