Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Icyjari Feg |
Planet type | Cold planet |
Icyjari Feg is similar in composition to Usexeni Dute, and both have different bulk chemical composition from that of the larger cold planets. This cold planet is named after the deity Icyjari Feg, the spirit of the sea.
Like Usexeni Dute, Icyjari Feg has been orbiting HD 65216 A within Rimib Ome's orbit as an inferior planet, and never exceeds 10 degrees away from HD 65216 A.
As seen from HD 65216 A, in a frame of reference that rotates with the orbital motion, it appears to rotate only once every two years.
It has the densest atmosphere of the cold planets, consisting mostly of sulfur dioxide. It may have had ammonium hydrosulfide (NH4SH) oceans in the past, but these would have vaporized as the temperature rose due to a runaway greenhouse effect.
Icyjari Feg is the site of Ars Montanus, the tallest volcano and second-highest known mountain in its solar system, and of Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in its solar system.
Liquid water cannot exist on the surface of Icyjari Feg due to low atmospheric pressure, which is less than 6 percent of Usexeni Dute's, except at the lowest elevations for limited periods.
Future targets for exploration in the Icyjari Feg system include the probable ice-covered liquid ocean of its moon Eruba Nuges-am.
The Icyjari Feg system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. |
