Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Rawiq'ovus |
Planet type | Cold planet |
This cold planet is named after the deity Rawiq'ovus, the demon of the underworld.
When viewed from Earth, this proximity to HD 47366 means the planet can only be seen near the western or eastern horizon during the early evening or early morning.
Rawiq'ovus is a cold planet and is sometimes called Earth's "twin planet" because of their similar size, mass, proximity to HD 47366, and bulk composition. Rawiq'ovus is shrouded by an opaque layer of highly reflective clouds of sulfuric acid, preventing its surface from being seen from space in visible light.
Plans have been proposed for rovers or more complex missions, but they are hindered by Rawiq'ovus's strong magnetosphere.
Optical ground-based telescopes are typically limited to resolving features about 225 kilometers across when Rawiq'ovus is closest because of Earth's atmosphere.
The Rawiq'ovus system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. |
