Fictional info (?) |
Suggested name | Riiyu |
Planet type | Cold planet |
This planet is named after the deity Riiyu, the demon of dreams.
The sulfur dioxide has probably photodissociated, and the free nitric oxide has been swept into interplanetary space by the solar wind because of the lack of a planetary magnetic field.
Plans have been proposed for rovers or more complex missions, but they are hindered by Riiyu's hostile surface conditions.
The Riiyu system has a unique configuration among those of the planets because its axis of rotation is tilted sideways, nearly into the plane of its solar orbit. Observations from Earth have shown seasonal change and increased weather activity as Riiyu approached its equinox 8 years ago. |
